Reflection

I had no idea what I was getting in to when I signed up for this class. I had no idea how impactful this course would be in my life. As many others have written about, the topic that stood out to me the most was hidden narratives. The way I analyze music, books, even movies changed completely so I though that maybe I might not relate to what I previously wrote about in my diagnostic essay.

When I re-read it, (because I honestly did not remember what I wrote about) I was happy to see that I am still passionate about youth empowerment. Since I began working at youth program since I was 16, I have met the most motivational youth with the passion to make a positive change in there community. My hidden narrative is that I am community worker and I plan to use my degree to not only improve my organization but also make an impact in my community as well.

My belief is about the only thing that hasn't changed since the beginning of the semester.

I think my writing skills (school wise, I don't think I quite have this blogging thing down yet) has improved a lot. I strongly believe that it is in the way Caitlin provided feed back. The feed back was general enough that I can apply it to all the different papers I have to write. In my previous experience I was told how to improve to get a better grade rather than how to write properly in my own voice. Writing in my own voice also gave me a confidence in my school work that I never had before.
