Transgender week

When it comes to what is a women I feel that is a question with many answers. Transgender is one of the topics that we have been talking bout this pass week in class. I feel just because a men try to look like and sound like a women that still don't make them a women in my eyes I still see a men. I feel that if you'r not born into this world as that then thats not who you are. We also had to write a paper this pass week this paper had to have a agrueing point of view. I enjoyed writing this paper because of the topic that I talked about, but something that made this paper hard to write was being able to argue for the other side.

  1. I also have had the same trouble with this question. I think that just because you want to be labeled a women doesn't mean you are one. You did not have to deal with the same struggles that women have gone through. You can't just say you are now a women and think you go through the same things. One half of me says this, but the other wishes for equality, I'm torn between the two.

  2. During this discussion in class I was actually thinking that it is hard how you can identify who is a woman and who is a man. I would hope that it shouldn't matter what anybody identifies them self as, but I think there is a natural thought that people are quick to identify somebody as a man or woman depending on what they were born as.

  3. Yeah this topic and questions that come with it is a pretty tough cookie to break. It's such a controversial issue that it's hard to really pick a side. Yeah there's a male and a female but in a lot of cases there are a lot of people around the world who are born with both sexes called "hermaphrodites" or "intersex individuals" which basically means that these people are born with both male and female sexual organs. There's cases where there's someone born with a penis but also have developed breasts or born with a vagina and have a beard and manly features. There's so much diversity out there in regards to what people are born with or how they choose to be, or in this case of hermaphrodites having to choose what sex they want but are unhappy or happy with who they are. The world would just be a better place if we all were just accepting of who we are. That surveys or questionnaires didn't limit people to just choosing male and female but leaving it blank to putting what that person believes they truly are.

  4. I also had trouble identifying what was a specific definition for a woman. I think there is not a specific definition for a woman, it's more like or society wants to place people under men or women definition. Anyone that chooses to change their gender, is seen as an outsider because they will never be fully accepted in the men or women definition because society sees that outside of the social norms.
